Kim Ward PHD
I feel genuinely inspired to support people on their journey of personal growth and transformation. I have always been a seeker of wisdom, knowledge and consciousness. I learned this originally from my mom, who fostered a sense of intrigue about what was beyond the physical and instilled in me a world of possibilities. That being said, she struggled with undiagnosed bipolar disorder and was largely untreated for most of her life. Her insatiable curiosity for growth and the existential along with her intense suffering and moodiness were pivotal in shaping my ultimate path of healing and transformation. I have done a deep dive into many paths of healing exploring traditional, integrative and experiential therapies. This led me to my own studies and training in transpersonal psychology where I received both a master’s degree and PhD.
One of the tools I learned in graduate school is called the Enneagram Personality System. It provides a roadmap into our strengths, challenges, blind spots, motivations, relationship styles and gifts. I use it personally and professionally virtually every day. In the past several years I have volunteered to bring the Enneagram into prisons and small groups to help those who are incarcerated learn to use this tool for their personal healing and growth. I also offer brainspotting, other trauma therapies and meditations alongside the Brahman Project’s, Freedom from The Inside program. Another experience that has significantly impacted my approach is my work at Sanoviv Medical Institute. In 1998 I was honored to be part of a small team of health experts contracted to design and develop programs at Sanoviv. In addition to contributing to the overall vision of Sanoviv, along with Dr. Hilary Stokes I developed and managed the psychology, spirituality and fitness programs for just under 10 years. I gained priceless insight and practical experience in integrative health and holistic happiness.
I have been in private practice for over 25 years offering one on one coaching and counseling. I work with advanced mind body approaches for health, healing and happiness.
Services We Offer:
I learned early in my business career that status and material gains do not lead to happiness. I had obtained much of what I thought would bring me to this place, yet I felt hopeless, unfulfilled and passionless. One day I had a flash of insight while sitting in a board meeting overlooking the beautiful Scottsdale Arizona desert. I realized I needed to make a change in my life. I mustered the courage to leave it all behind in the pursuit of a more fulfilling sense of purpose. This included coming out of denial and dealing with the impact of my mother’s untreated mental health issues, learning how to be present and embodied and eventually going back to school to start a whole new career.
I chose to study transpersonal psychology so that I could support people on all levels of mind, body and spirit. Since my awakening in the Scottsdale boardroom, I have been dedicated to supporting others to wake up to their passion, believe in their dreams, heal limiting beliefs, breakthrough self-sabotage and choose happiness.
Apart from working in private practice for the last 25 years, I have also worked in schools and universities, integrative medical facilities, addiction treatment centers, correctional facilities and commercial organizations. I have benefited greatly from my work with the Enneagram and have imparted its knowledge to clients for many years, both in the professional and personal spheres. One of the most influential experiences that shaped my approach to supporting clients was my work at Sanoviv Medical Institute. I had the chance to work with a small group of integrative health practitioners during the developmental phase of Sanoviv. My main responsibility, along with Dr. Hilary Stokes, was to create and manage the psychology, spirituality, and fitness programs. During these 10 years I gained invaluable learning and experience working with the Sanoviv “guests” and understanding how healing occurs while integrating both the mind and body for physical, mental and emotional healing.
I find mind body therapies such as Brainspotting and somatic approaches to be powerful tools for regulating the nervous system and accessing authentic healing. When we heal the wounds from our past, we liberate vital life energy. This allows for greater self-expression, creativity and empowered presence. In our work together you will learn practical tools to make peace with your past, transform stress, create loving relationships, access your passionate purpose and rewire your brain for happiness. Mind-body practices we may work with include: meditation, brainspotting, somatic therapy, parts work, NLP, the enneagram, energy practices, guided imagery and more.
My specialties include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, sexuality, coping skills, unhealthy habits, self-esteem, addictions, relationship challenges, purpose in life, life transitions, social anxiety, performance anxiety and life balance.
